Yesterday I ordered some fleece panels from Fabric.com for a Christmas gift that I’ll be working on and ended up splurging on a few Michael Miller fabric panels for myself.

I will make a confession – I’m kind of obsessed with fairies. I don’t know why. Tinker Bell is my favorite Disney character. I love anything to do with fairies. Maybe that is why I am also obsessed with the corgi since the story goes that they were fairy steeds?

So I ordered two panels from the Michael Miller Flower Fairy collection – the large Cornflower Periwinkle panel and the panel with 12 fairies in blocks and the mini blocks.  I have no design plan in my head yet, I’m sure I’ll come up with something.  I had a hard time choosing which color to go with but I’m partial to blues, greens and purples so I picked this one.  I’ll have to go to my LQS and pick out some neutral coordinating fabric once I figure out the design I’m going to use.

I’ve never designed anything around fabric panels before so this should be interesting. Michael Miller does have the free pattern available for both panels if I wanted to go with what was already designed.  (Bachelor Fairy Pattern & Periwinkle Fairies Pattern.)

Projects currently on my sewing table (listed by priority):

  1. Cardigan corgi appliqué mini-wallhanging (gotta finish this before I pick up the new puppy at the breeders)
  2. Speedy Spiral Christmas Tree Skirt
  3. Small quilted tree ornaments (not yet cut out but I’ll make little cutting templates and put some together.  I think they are going to be cute… if I can figure out how to keep the small pieces of batting in them when turning inside out (I don’t wanna bind them).  I might try spray basting the ornaments.
  4. Two fleece throws
  5. Binding for my pinwheel quilt
