Mug Rug Swap

With the puppy in the house I don’t know how much time I’ll have to sit and do big projects. So I’m focusing on small stuff right now, in between Christmas gifts, so I can still work on things without feeling overwhelmed with a huge quilt.

I joined a mug rug swap! What is a mug rug?  It is a little coffee mug size quilt that people can rest their mugs on while enjoying their favorite hot beverage and a little snack.  There are all sorts of sizes, designs, themes and fabrics used to make them.  Just take a look at the possibilities on Flickr!

Each person lists their likes and dislikes and their swap partner makes one based on that information.   Should be fun and hopefully I can just use fabric in my stash to make something really cute.Update: I’m hosting my own swap!  Deadline to signup is December 31, 2010.  You must have your swap package sent by January 31, 2011.  See signup instructions and swap details at my other blog post:

  2. Hi Katie,
Just got finished listening to your 3rd podcast (is there more?) and totally enjoyed my time I spent with you today,, some things I would like to mention, I am so glad you mentioned Brye as a listening podcast, she is great, get's to the point and is very interesting to listen to as you are,, another thing about basting, have you gone to, go there, check out the video and perhaps that will help you with your basting issues, please leave Loretta a comment and tell her I sent you there. I use them all the time! In a couple of weeks I will be going to the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show over in Hampton VA and will be looking for the slider you mentioned as Joann's and Hancocks do not carry it. Also, Leann Day (don't know if spelling is correct) she has free motion quilting designs for each day of the year and she uses the slider and a spacer for under your bobbin to help with the tension. Well, that's it for now, keep up the podcasts and hope to hear you again real soon.
