E-Reader Cover

Since I received a Nook Color for Christmas I decided to go ahead and use the pattern I purchased a few weeks back to make a cover for it.  Since my mom has a Kindle 3 (the pattern has measurements for every popular e-reader out there) I wanted to work out the kinks before attempting one as a gift for her.   Mine turned out ok!  There are a few things that I’m going to do differently next time but all in all, great pattern and it makes a great cover.       Take a look at my listing over at Etsy!  I’ll make you a custom cover!

Lap Quilts as Gifts

So I can finally post photos of the lap quilts I was working on since they were given out last night as gifts.   I purchased fleece one piece panels from Fabric.com and quilted them to flannel as the backing.  They turned out really soft and heavy enough to be a great lap quilt.  I love them!  Now I want to do some more of these.    They were simple to put together.  Because the panel stuck so well to the flannel backing it was simple to quilt and I took pains to make sure no bumps would form during the quilting process.  They turned out better than anticipated.  I finished both of these in one...

Free Pattern Friday

Want to participate in Free Pattern Friday?  Follow the instructions here and share your own blog link with others looking for free patterns! I found this pattern a few months ago and purchased the pattern and license so if I ever wanted to sell a few on Etsy I could. For $10 it is totally worth it. It is such a cute bag! Doesn’t seem that difficult to make if I will ever sit down and cut out the pattern to try it. She has the original size and a larger size when she did a version for Mother’s Day as a gift. So cute and simple.  With the right fabrics I think this would make...

Packages!

My Moda fabric order came in!     This is for my mystery quilt class that I’m taking on the 8th.  I hope the light fabric is light enough to work as a background fabric since I don’t plan on purchasing anything else.  This is the Origins by Basic Grey fabric line.  Our instructions were to make sure we purchased a jelly roll of fabric that had light, medium and dark values since all medium values wouldn’t look good with the mystery quilt pattern.     I’m excited to see what I end up making with it!  These aren’t normally colors I work with but I do like green a lot and this jelly roll has...

WIP Wednesday Roundup

Unfinished Binding I got a lot done over the last week as far as this Daisy quilt was concerned.  I finished quilting it and I stitched the binding onto the front.  Now I need to sit down and watch several good movie marathons this weekend and finish stitching the binding onto the back by hand.  I’ll be done before I leave for Tallahassee on Monday I think if I can sit still long enough.  If not, I’ll be finishing it while I’m there.   So, the tally from last week: Since Last Week Current Projects:  3 (Daisy Quilt, Butterfly Quilt, Scrap blocks, ) New Projects: 0 Completed Projects: 0 Projects Not Started: 3 (koi quilt kit,...

Goals for 2011

Don’t Call Me Betsy is doing a great thing hosting a 2011 goal blog post linkup.  I love lists and I love goals so of course I’m going to participate.  I’m limiting myself to 12 goals for the year.   More classes.   I want to take at least 3 classes in 2011 and develop some new skills, learn new patterns and piece new blocks.  I’m already signed up for one the first week of January so there is one out of the way right there.  Joining a quilt guild already has its benefits – especially if you sit up front and get a hold of the signup sheet first before it fills completely.   Reorganize quilting space...
