Another Fabric Order!

So the past few days I wanted to order another jelly roll but what did I end up doing – ordering 2 remnant assortments from Fabric.com and some notions.

They have this deal where you get 3 pounds of their end of the bolt remnants for $19.98.  This is the equivalent of about 9 yards of fabric.  I’m all about stash building since my current fabric closet (while it needs reorganizing) can still hold all of my fabric easily.  Can we say more scrappy quilts?  Yes we can.  More than likely I’ll cut up what I get to use in my Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt to take on the cruise as my hand working project since I can’t decide on anything in my current stash to cut up.

Also – my Strip Twist block swap is underway.  I extended the deadline as I selfishly need more time to get that done along with all the commissions I have right now.

What else did I order?  A pattern!  Paintstiks Butterfly Wall Quilt/Table Topper.

This uses a technique where you quilt the fabric first, then paint the fabric using a Paintstik afterwards to get the color you want.

I saw a video of Leah Day (of 365 free motion quilting videos fame) doing this to her famous sunburst quilt and thought wow that is really interesting.  Since I’m a bit obsessed with butterflies, dragonflies and bees I thought this might be a fun pattern to try out.
