Fabric Diet Update

I’m hitting that point in my fabric diet where I’m having some bad withdrawal. I keep reminding myself I only have two weeks left. Fabric Diet Countdown   I managed to make it through Black Friday despite a really good sale on Flannels and other fabrics that various stores were having.  I haven’t been browsing Ebay very much.  For the most part I’ve been staying out of stores altogether which has helped the whole fabric diet stay on track. While organizing {Read More}

Is that fabric basket giving birth to another basket? I’m still sick but I’m making progress in the right direction. I didn’t venture out all weekend which the corgis loved. Most of my time was spent on the couch wrapping fabric onto cotton cording to make more fabric bowls.  I love making fabric bowls but the wrapping takes forever so it is best to spend that time doing it in a comfy place until you have it all done and need {Read More}

Headcolds and Orca Bay

Last Tuesday I started feeling funny with an odd scratch in my throat but I hoped for the best and attributed it to allergies. Then Wednesday it got worse and finally Thursday it really set in. I managed to get through Thanksgiving lunch with the family before heading home and crashing on the couch for the night. All weekend I’ve been holed up here in my pajamas not feeling like doing very much. My cast iron teapot was pulled out {Read More}

My First Quilt

Quiltville has a great post about her first quilt and I thought I’d share mine and link back too! This is my first quilt, small as it is.  It is an applique wall hanging that I purchased as a kit at Jo-Anns since I found it in a clearance bin for $7 and thought, “Why not?”  I started it in 2005 after I got married on my little Janome 415 that I received as a wedding gift from two of {Read More}

Facing Reality & Having Some Fun

Tonight I sat down and realized I just don’t have enough time to put something together for the International Quilt Festival of Ireland.  Even if I didn’t work on anything else until mid-January I just don’t feel like I could do an exhibit piece justice in the middle of holiday season and all the other myriad things that come up.  After deciding I wasn’t going to worry with it I felt better even though I was a little sad. I’ve {Read More}

Orca Bay Update

While the hubby was posting some stuff on eBay I took the time to do a few test units of the first part of the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. It involves making 224 hourglass units out of black and neutral fabrics. The units finish at 2.5″ square. I wanted to see if my seam allowance was still working well and so I cut enough to do three units. They came out okay I think – a smidge under size so {Read More}

Free Pattern Friday – Ticker Tape Quilt

This is a quilt along that happened earlier this year and I just stumbled across a link to it.  It includes a tutorial on how to make the block using the “quilt as you go” method.  I think it looks like a fun quilt and such a great way to use up all sorts of little scrappy pieces!  You don’t have to make blocks, you can do a small project like a mug rug or a medium sized wall hanging {Read More}

The Beautiful Reorganized Fabric Closet I’ve made it past the 2 week mark on my fabric diet! So far two people have decided to join me – Celia and Jill! They both e-mailed me their goals so we’re gonna support eachother through this very difficult time.  Jill said she wants to try to diet until February when she goes to a big quilt show. Send positive thoughts to all of us please! I’ve made all sorts of progress on my {Read More}
