Free Pattern Friday – Car Trash Caddy

Such a handy little tutorial on a very useful item!  I need to make one of these for my car.  I doubt my hubby would like it if I made one for him since he has a manual transmission though! Stephanie Hughes wrote a great little tutorial on a car trash bag that hangs off of your shifter (or anything else you can attach it to).

Quickie Wednesday Update

This past week has been crazy! I finally posted the last step of the bargello quilt along last night and I was happy to get that off my plate so I can move on to the next project.  Yesterday I received another request for a dog agility ribbon quilt commission so I’m working on that to get it done before the upcoming February trial.  Hoping I get it done in time! Here is the dog agility ribbon quilt I recently completed for a new client: Adding the zebra ribbon was challenging!  I wasn’t sure how to add it to the top so it would look right and ultimately decided to frame the name and the heart....

Bargello Quilt Along – Part 3 – Quilting and Finishing

Miss the earlier parts?  Part 1 is here and Part 2 is here! Hopefully you’ve got either a placemat or a tablerunner top pieced together if you followed the steps in parts 1 and 2. I’m not going to go into too much detail on how to quilt your top but I will link to some tutorials if you’ve never quilted anything before and need to learn how. My last post is more of a design suggestion  - feel free to finish it however you like! Step 1 is to make your sandwich:

Name that Gnome Contest!

I went Etsy shopping and picked up a new travel gnome since poor Carl lost his feet on my last trip and is retired in my closet now. I want to have a new contest!  The last one was so fun and lots of you came up with some very unique stories behind the name of the gnome that you suggested. I already have gnomes named Gerald and Carl so don’t use those! Entry Rules: Comment below with your name suggestion and a backstory of why he is called that. One entry per person please! Entry Deadline: Leave a comment by Monday, January 30th, midnight EST. Prize: A selection of fabric from my stash!  If I choose your...

Testing….testing 123

I’m in the midst of my move to my new host and blog service and I want to test out my feeds and see if they still propogate. Transferring from Blogger to WordPress isn’t exactly a simple process especially if you want to make sure all your old links still work on your new location! I was up late last night working on my settings to get that right.  I still haven’t tackled my theme to get the look of my new blog the way I want it.  Playing with settings and tagging old posts has me busy enough at the moment. I have a theme in mind and can’t wait to do the photography for...

Pardon my dust….

I will be switching blog hosts the next few days so if you notice my blog looking strange bear with me please.  Once the move is over I’ll make another announcement!  The bargello placemat part 3 will be delayed because of this. …blame Blogger for this inconvenience!  It is time to move to a real blog host that doesn’t have broken templates, limit embed codes and such. If you bookmark http://www.katiesquiltingcorner.com/ you won’t be effected – it’ll point to the new site once I get it up and running. Thanks!

Bargello Placemat Quilt Along – Part 2 – Cutting your tubes, using your seam ripper and sewing rows back together

Miss Part 1? You can find it here! By now you should have all your fabric cut and sewn together into tubes.  Depending on which pattern you are doing you should either have four tubes sewn together for the placemats or two tubes for the table runner.  If you are doing both you will have six tubes total! Now it is time to cut into the tubes to get our rows.
