Free Pattern Friday – Some Star Quilt Alongs

Its time for a short post with a few fun quilt alongs that I’ve found!

Oh My Stars! Quilt Along - Thought and Found

Thought and Found has created a really fun quilt along to create this magnificent star quilt! All sorts of different start blocks are used to create it and you get a tutorial for each one.  So many possibilities with this one.

Sparkle Punch - Oh Fransson!

Sparkle Punch – Wonky and sweet this is another great quilt along with stars from Oh, Fransson!. I love the gray backing she used. Another bonus is this quilt doesn’t have borders! (I hate borders).

  1. I agree!! borderless quilts, for the win!

  2. I signed up for the Thought and Found quilt along… bought and pulled my fabric… but…that’s where I am. Look at the “Oh! My Stars” group on Flickr to see what wonderful things everyone else did. I’m sure I’ll start very soon!

Just curious, why don’t you like borders? Is it that you don’t like the look or that you don’t like constructing them?

I guess I like to keep things simple. After spending a lot of time on the top I hate to have one more thing to do to the quilt. I do need to get better with borders but I still would prefer a simple quilt without borders. That being said – I’m going to a lecture/trunk show in Tuesday that is all about quilt borders, how to do them right and design them if a quilt needs one.
