44 – I visit Sarasota, clean my sewing room, finish a big quilt and much more

We visited Yoder’s Restaurant, Alma Sue’s Quilts and the Ringling Museum.

Here is that “special exhibition” I talked about with the vintage quilts that I didn’t care for.

  1. Hi Katie. I spent 5 winters in Sarasota working. At the time, of course, the “special quilt show” was not at the Ringling but there were other wonderful exhibitis, especially the circus exhibit. Yoder, oh yum! DH and ate there fairly often and it was always fabulous! Never did have any of those pies though. So glad you got to visit the area. It’s nice there. There is a great quilt shop in Sarasota, SewWorthIt, if you get to visit there again. It’s one of the best, located on Palmer Crossing.

    • I’ll have to try that quilt shop next! I wasn’t sure which one to go to first and decided on the one close to Yoders. DH can’t handle multiple quilt shops in one trip yet. Thanks for recommending the other one, I’ll be sure to go there next time we go to Yoders. :)

  2. I had NO idea there was an Amish influence in Sarasota! That looks like being in Indiana or Pennsylvania!

  3. Hi Katie, Do you happen to remember which table you saw at IKEA that you think would work well for a cutting table? I am currently looking for a cutting table as I am using plastic topped folding tables (top of the line but still…folding tables – yuck) and am desperate for something higher and more sturdy.

    • It looked like this but I”m not sure if it was the exact table. They have lots of height adjustable tables to choose from if you search their website. The one I saw was really sturdy.

  4. Thanks Katie. There is an IKEA store a couple of blocks from where I work (different town than where I live) so I might swing by soon. I’ve never been in IKEA because the crazy traffic jams when they first opened recently have scared me off. Probably time to brave it and see what the awesomeness is all about.

  5. I just furminated our cat tonight. I don’t think she’ll let me give her a bath to get the rest of the hair off, though! lol She’s shedding so much I can tell which furniture she’s been on just by the hair she leaves behind. I don’t remember her ever shedding this much before!

Oh, and my name is a shortened form of Engineer. I forget that the rest of the world doesn’t use the same abbreviations I do (all day, every day). :)
