Mom got her quilt in the mail today so I can finally reveal pictures of the finished quilt. I think it turned out very nice! The border is fabric I had in my sewing studio and I thought it matched the jelly roll rather nicely. This jelly roll was called “Bittersweet”.
This was one of my Finish-A-Long Goals for the 2nd quarter

The bittersweet collection was used in our LQS for a BOM. I really loved the fabrics and was SO tempted to join the BOM but I am swearing off “pre-designed” projects for at least the near future. Your quilt is beautiful. I have no doubt your Mum was completely thrilled and over the moon with your gift.
That’s one of the nicest Jelly Roll Race quilts I’ve seen. The border sets it off perfectly!
Mom is over the MOON about her Mother’s Day “jelly roll race” quilt. I love it!
Quilts are treasures to me. They represent family to me in so many ways.
Thank you so very much Katie! I love you. HUGS!!!
What a beautiful quilt, and obviously one that your Mum is going to treasure – a family heirloom, no doubt!

Turned out great, Katie!
Katie, the quilt is lovely. And, you match the quilt!!
Beautiful quilt, lucky mom! I should have had daughters. =)
Nice job, best jellyroll quilt I’ve seen too. Your quilting is awesome!!
Very Beautifully done, it is one of the best jelly roll race quilts I have seen. Your mom is lucky to have such a wonderful daughter!
Hi Katie. Your Mom’s quilt turned out so beautifully! I’m so glad she loves it! I was googling how to finish JRR quilt tops. A visual is always good! Also I was contemplating shopping in my stash for the borders as well. I live in the Middle East so it’s hard to get fabrics here let alone designer ones! Thank you! I look forward to reading your blog!
I’m just learning this pattern and I have read two different instructions for the jelly roll quilt – one just open the jelly roll and start connecting pieces, the other is to jumble the strips randomly and then start connecting pieces. What did you do here?
I separated my pieces by color family and then I rotated the color strips that I sewed together. It helps to randomize it a bit.
