Free Pattern Friday – Portable Pressing Board

I’ve got another sew day to go to tomorrow and I’m determined to make a small, portable pressing board to take with me. I’ve been meaning to make one for a while and just haven’t picked up a TV tray to do it yet.

I have some home dec weight fabric leftover from my curtains so I think I’m just going to use that. Hopefully it’s wide enough!

Have you made one of these? Do you like it?

Looks simple enough to me, I say go for it! I make my own ironing board covers since they tend to get gross after a while, and I just sew a little sleeve all the way around, then put some cording through the sleeve and pull it tight to cinch it up. This would be a choice if you want to make something that you can replace after a while, put you could probably just pull the staples out if you wanted to, as well. Have fun!

  2. I love it, it looks awesome! I have a portable tray like this one, except for grilling:) Since we’re on the second floor it’s easy to take it downstairs and practical for holding the to-be-grilled stuff. I’d definitely try to make a pressing table, but I think I’d use plywood instead of a tray. But that’s just me!

I love my little pressing table. I used regular fabric for my first top. and promptly burnt the fabric. sigh….. so I now use the silver ironing board fabric. it last forever!!! I do make the top (fabric) removable. I never go anywhere without my table……

I love it, Katie. I’ll be keeping my eye out for TV trays at garage sales! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Katie, I went out the Amazon (through your site of course) and ran into this tv tray. I wish i could find one of these for cheap and put the pressing surface on it. It would probably slide under my sewing table or wherever. It probably doesn’t fold up though….. you’ve got me thinking,……again!

    Cheaper at Target than Walmart.
