Free Design – Zip Case – In the Hoop!

I’m the first to admit, I’m not great with 3D objects that have to be sewn. Bags baffle me. I’ve done a few but I avoid them since I’m better with quilts and figuring those out. Fear no more!

Five Star Fonts embroidery came out with this freebie zip case a few months back. I always had it bookmarked to try but never tried it until today. The zipper was so easy! I’m ready to attempt all sorts of pouches and bags in the hoop now.

It is fully lined and is done in one hooping. She sends out great photo instructions on how to do it with her files.

@landscapelady and @artquiltmaker both asked me to take a video on how it was done so they could visualize it better so I did!

  1. Now I see how it works, thank you for the video. I don’t have an embroidery machine but now see one more reason I need one:-)
Although after watching I can see where I could do one on a regular machine, just more fun on yours.

    • It’d be doable on a regular machine for sure – you’d just have to mark your fabric where to sew your straight lines and such. Having an embroidery machine is fun sometimes! I’ll admit I struggled with the first pouch due to thread issues which was really frustrating. I switched to Aurifil and of course that fixed almost all my issues. *sigh*

  2. Thanks for the video. Never would have thought of this!

  3. They look great Katie! Where do you get those pretty ribbons for the rings? I’m always looking for them, but can’t seem to find them.

  4. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I’ve put in lots of zippers, but this is really interesting. Now we understand!

  5. Katie, have you checked out ? They have a daily free embroidery design. Todays is an in the hoop zipper pouch. You only have one day to get each design unless you sign up for the gold membership. I have gotten some cute designs there. Free is nice!

    • Thanks Mair-Cee! I discovered this not a week ago and now I have to try and remember to check it every day. They have some great designs!
