Finished – Bali Pop Jelly Roll Race quilt

Finally stopped raining one night so I was able to take a few photos. I had to lay it over the fence in my backyard so the quilt is larger than what is shown here.

My mom used Key Lime Bali Pops to do the jelly roll race top. I added a border and quilted it. The binding was machined on using the same fabric as the border. I used a light lime colored embroidery thread to quilt the top and a variegated thread for the bobbin so the back has a really neat contrasting thread color. This quilt will be given to my dad for his birthday next month.

Красиво получилось! Я уже у вас посмотрела видеоролик, как шить такое.

  2. I’m sure your Dad will be thrilled! It looks beautiful and I love the combination of meandering and loops. Well done! Yaaay for no rain…finally!:)

  3. On that kind of quilt where do you start quilting? I would love to try that!

    • I started in the middle and worked my way in 4 quadrants towards the border. The border was quilted last. I like to start on a seam line so my starting stitch is kind of hidden and isn’t so obvious.

    • It’s a jelly roll race quilt with a border around it.

  9. It looks great! Your Dad will love having such a special gift from the two of you.

When I used my fence for photographing quilts, I strung a clothesline between two of the posts and clipped my quilts to it. Big quilts would lay on the grass a bit, but you could still see the whole thing.
Here is a link to a sample photo. You can’t see the posts, but the string is just looped around and tied.
