Quilt Finish! “Leftovers” – last quilt for 2012

"Leftovers" Scrap Quilt

Snapped a few photos of “Leftovers” before climbing into bed. I didn’t measure it to get the final dimensions but it’ll make a nice lap quilt for me in my recliner. I used a really soft vintage sheet for the back. Batting was a pellon cotton I somehow ended up with so it’s not terribly thick but it’s really soft. I haven’t washed it yet.

Quilting was mostly straight line inside the tan areas with a few rows of straight lines inside the colored lines. The string border was all quilted in the ditch. Yes, each and every stinking seam was quilted and it took forever.

  1. Great job! Love the quilt. It is very bright and cheerful. I like the idea of making a quilt of bits and pieces leftover from projects completed throughout the year. I suppose one would have to be very creative or plan all year to do this? I guess I am doing something similar with my FOTY project.

    • I think planning would be difficult depending on what sorts of units you wanted to use. Since this was all the same unit it was easy to lay out in EQ7 and execute. I love the idea of having a “memory quilt” filled with scraps from other quilts that you’ve made and possibly given away never to see again.
