61 – Cruise prep, Tank Top Dresses, Serger fun, Viking Update

  • Prepping for my cruise that’s coming up in less than a week! More involved than I’d like but I’ll make it.
  • I’ve spent the last few days working on some tank top dresses and really had fun learning about making skirts.   Exploring my serger has been really fun too!
  • I’ll update you on the latest with my Viking Topaz 20.
  • Hotfix crystal fun and making a folding clutch purse
  • Rearranged the quilting corner a bit and shared photos of the new layout
  • I went to Video Games Live! The one and only time I’ll probably get my husband to go to the symphony.
  • I met Mary Jo from The Quilt Bear!

2nd Tank Dress – will probably shorten skirt

Getting better at serging and trying to have better seams

First tank dress all hemmed up!

  1. Nice photo of you & MaryJo. Hurrah! on sewing dresses.

    • She was SO sweet! I’m really enjoying the easy dress making. I think I’ve gained enough confidence to try a panel skirt or a circle skirt next. Maybe with an encased elastic band.

  2. Great job on the tank dress!

  3. Don’t cancel your original complaint about the HV macine with the BBB. Just UPDATE it.

  4. You go girl!

  5. I liked hearing about your corgis, as always. My Mom came to corgi owning later in life and just loves them. Her challenging one is her third; he gets very crabby if you pay attention to anyone (including children and othe dogs) other than him.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  6. I’m so glad you had a wonderful time on your Cruise. I’m really happy that your sewing machine is working for know and sorry that you are selling it. I can understand when you said that you had put all this money in to it already and just couldn’t afford to keep doing that. You had said before you thought your podcast were too long there not. I’m fine with it because I clean or fold clothes or hand sew while listening to your as well as many other podcasters. On another note I hate working with elastic too, I have my fare share of trying to make clothes and it doesn’t go all that well. I still like trying though and I’m totally down with hotfix crystals and decorating your own clothes. I think that you did well for your first try.

    • Thanks! I may try a few more skirts. Glad you like the podcast length – makes me feel a bit better about it!

  7. Hi Katie,
I love your website updates…which pattern are you using for the “tank top dresses”? Am very interested because I live in New Mexico and the months of June, July and August are very hot, temperatures sometimes reach 100, but most of the summer it is in the 90’s.

Thank you for sharing all that you make and learn about.

    🙂 Jody
