Free Pattern Friday – Super Mario Quilt Along

This is a fun group I just found on Flickr. The hostess – blogger Angela from Cut to Pieces created a really fun quilt along group with planned pixel blocks from Super Mario Bros. I loved browsing through the Flickr group and seeing what sorts of things people did with them!

PDF instructions for each block can be found linked in the group for free download.

I love Nintendo games and I’ve planned out a few sprite blocks of my own – one is a very large Yoshi that I just haven’t purchased fabric to complete yet. This gives me inspiration!

One person took each block and did it with large pieces of fabric so they all became their own lap quilt. She did them for all of her nieces and nephews. How cool is that?

  1. I started a Super Mario Quilt back in 2011 with some pixelated images I found on flikr, I stalled for a few months and then this QAL popped up and I was happy to use some of their blocks alongside my own, ! have 7 blocks made so far and more drawn out but I need to get my mojo back for working with all the small pieces! My kids are really pleased with the blocks I’ve made so far, I just hope they will be able to share the quilt as there’s no way I’ll be making 2! :o)

  2. My friend Marion was doing this quilt along and I remember she was posting her blocks and they had an insane amount of pieces! It’s a really cool quilt to make for someone who’s into Super Mario. 🙂 Thanks for the links!

  3. How cute! I shared your post link with a big quilt list, because I think that is too much fun not to share!
