Here’s the TED talk I mentioned in the podcast regarding the 5 most common regrets on peoples deathbeds and how to add 10 years to your lifespan:

  1. Eureka!!! ***Squeee*** You talk about your “quilter’s voice.” You have a “voice.” You identify it in the podcast. What you have done and it is why i found your blog and podcast to begin with. Your niche is that you identify that we all make mistakes and what to do to fix those mistakes and that there is not many out there who do that. I was struggle with doing English paper piecing and I found your tutorials and i was hooked on your style that you teach. So in the whole grand scheme of everything it is not a particular pattern. It is your ability to explain, teach, demonstrate it out.

  2. Barbara Vickery says:

Hint to clean grout: To whiten bathtub grout, first dry the tub thoroughly, then spray it liberally with hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit — it may bubble slightly — for a little while, then come back and scrub the grout with an old toothbrush. You may have to repeat the process a few times.

  3. Sad to say, the grout gets clean because Merry Maids cleans it. I am not a person who likes to clean, or cook, or lots of other “female” things. I give thanks every day that I wasn’t born 100 years ago, when I would not have had a choice about how I live my life or express myself.

    All the best.

  4. Still need to catch up on the podcast but that TED talk was great, suits me to a tee being an on and off gamer who loves completing quests & achievements with friends (yup, ex WoW nerd)

  5. New here. I’m sort of a quilting newb and I like to listen to crafty podcasts while I’m at work. I used to live in FL, love to knit , crochet and make my own clothes. My only coment for the moment is that the new superman movie is NOT pretty good. It’s actually pretty BAD!!! (My husbeast is way critical of entertainment so I get to hear a LOT of popculture and review podcasts). But, the casting was really great and it was pretty to look at.

  1. […] After lamenting on my last podcast about not feeling like I knew where I fit in quilting this quilt came to be. I designed it on Monday afternoon (July 8th) on a post-it note, came home that night and got to work.  My local modern quilt guild had a negative space challenge and originally I hadn’t intended on entering anything. Then this design popped into my head. I had to do it. Cut the applique pieces on Monday and basted the quilt sandwich, Tuesday night I started the quilting and zig-zag around all the applique edges, Wednesday was more quilting, Thursday was labeling and binding and tonight (Friday) It might not have been done in a day Eleanor Burns but a quilt done in a week isn’t too bad right?
