Finish – Wedding Guest Memory Quilt

I guess this counts as my oldest UFO finish ever! One of my good corgi-owner friends got married almost three years ago and I offered to make her a quilt from fabrics her guests signed. I got the signed scraps of fabric back probably two years ago and its sat in a drawer since then waiting to be put together. Originally I was just going to do square-in-a-square but after seeing some of the guests wrote straight to the edge I realized I had to applique them all so she didn’t lose any messages.

Her wedding was fall themed so this was my attempt to make it look like a tree had notes hanging from it for them. The leaves are my favorite part (and the corgi). Β It’s been raining nonstop for 3 days so I was unable to get good photos outside. Hope these are clear enough!

All of this is raw edge applique and I just quilted everything down all at once after fusing it. The tree was cut completely freeform. I had a narrow piece of brown batik to use so the trunk couldn’t go any wider. I’m happy with it and she seems thrilled with the preview photos I’ve sent so I’m crossing my fingers they look forward to displaying it in their home.
