I’ve been quiet on the blog for several weeks now working on packing and all sorts of fun stuff that happens when you buy a home.  We viewed it on the day I last podcasted and put in an offer that evening. There’s been lots of back and forth but I can finally say I’m pretty confident we’ll be closing on it next week and begin moving in right away.  The house is 10 minutes from my office so my commute to and from work is going to practically nothing. I’m very excited about that! It also has a pool for me and the corgis to enjoy this summer.

The house is larger than we need but it seemed like all the homes we looked at that didn’t have a homeowners association were large ones. Ultimately we decided the floorplan on this one was great and everything was updated so we didn’t have to do any renovations.  The master bedroom kind of sealed the deal – the entry to it is behind a bookcase! When the door is shut you’d never know a room was back there. My Realtor said in the 24 years she’s been showing property she’s never seen anything like it before.

There’s been tons of anxiety, stress and excitement on my part with this move. It’s far from over and the worst is yet to come since we close next week. I’m packing like crazy now. The corgis don’t really understand what’s happening.

My sewing room is located in the second master suite. I decided to take it since it had good light and hardwood floors. I didn’t want the carpeted room since I worried about pins and needles getting lost in the carpeting among other things. The bonus of choosing that room is that I can now decorate a bathroom with owl paraphernalia! My mom has already started me off with a rug, shower curtain and curtain rings with owls on them. It’ll be fun decorating it over time with all sorts of owl stuff.

I hope to podcast soon when I have another spare moment but until then take care!
