WIP Wednesday – Back in the Saddle

I’m sewing again! Feels good to finally be having some creative fun. I made a denim bag with my cut off jeans hems so I could stop storing them:

And I started working on my Modern Quilt Guild Michael Miller challenge quilt. I had several other ideas on what I wanted to do for this quilt and nothing felt right until I pulled out my EZ Dresden ruler and had an idea of where I wanted to go with this.

Didn’t have this teal in my stash so I had to shop on my lunch break to find it.

Found the perfect shade of Aurifil on my color card to do the quilting

My studio looks like a creative hurricane hit it:

  1. Oh Katie, I just love the Jean Hem bag. If It were mine, I would use if for my garden hand tools to tote from one flower bed to another. Just love the darned thing!

Now…for the dresden wedge. What a great idea for a modern quilt. Great idea using both ends and finishing the “wedge”. I have a collection of some lovely modern fabrics that would look great used this way for a fabulous modern dresden wall hanging. How inspiring! Looking forward to seeing completed project!

  2. Katie good to see you backin the saddle. Can’t wait for more podcasting. You are a gifted speaker and we love all the useful information you bring to the table.

  3. So GLAD you are getting back into the STITCH of things. I have missed seeing your blogs and hearing your voice on podcasts.
I’m hoping we can come down sometime this SUMMER to celebrate your birthday but your Dad’s work project has started and is in FULL blown chaos (ugh its been driving him up the wall). I found something for your birthday at the Tupelo Honey Festival.
I really think a bunch of you quilters could have a booth ($40 booth fee) and make a small fortune. I was asked yesterday in conversation with someone if you sold anything that you made…..people interested in ANYTHING hand sewn (your mini bags, Kindle covers, etc).
I got a new stash of Tupelo Honey from Ben (former school mate). Let me know if you need a jug.

  4. That jean bag looks totally awesome! I’m half way with June as I don’t have any more hems left, still in the gathering stage! That Dresden teal quilt will be fantastic, I can’t wait to see it quilted!
