The Corner is On the Move!

Puritan Road Cottage

A lot has happened in the last few weeks. I found a small two bedroom / one bath house that I put an offer in on. My offer was accepted last week so now we start the process of packing and moving! It really is perfect for the corgis and I. Big fenced backyard with a screen room and a nice deck, lots of light, old oak trees on the property provide tons of shade and I can see the river from my Florida room. The home was owned by an artist so I already love all the touches she’s put on it.

I don’t have to do much to it for it to be ready to move in once we close at the end of October. My sewing room is on the front of the house and gets lots of nice light. The bedroom is on the back of the house. The living room is sunken and connects to the back screen room with nice french doors. Plenty of space for my grill and smoker.

I’ll get used to having a small sewing room. I do plan on keeping my vintage machines, Anne (the Powerquilter 16.0) and my main sewing machine the Pfaff Creative 2.0. The closets are good size so I should have plenty of room to store everything away especially if I get rid of a bunch of furniture and stuff I really don’t need.

My garage has turned into Yard Sale central! I’m moving all the stuff I want to sell and get rid of out of the house into the garage. Hoping to do my first yard sale in a few weeks.

I’m excited to have my first holidays in my new home! Even if I’m still getting ready to sell the old one it’ll be fun celebrating despite boxes probably still not being unpacked. I know things will work out fine. I feel confident and happy with this change. I’m very excited to make my first quilts in the little cottage. (I’m calling it little but it’s really a nice size – around 1200 sqf.).

  2. What a great little place, glad you found a nice landing spot. Hope it doesn’t change your distance to work much.

  7. I am wishing you much “happiness and joy” in your NEW home and NEW life, it is a BIG deal with “downsizing” we have been doing it for well over 2 years, your inspiring me to continue with downsizing some of my craft supplies….with doing “quilting, beading and doodling” my supplies are many…I already downsized on my fabric and feel good about that, now just get more organized 🙂 wishing you all the best and I love your NEW home, can’t wait to see and hear more about what you are up to. Am happy to hear to that your health is doing better, stay strong Katie, all will work out…you are “Strong” 🙂

  11. Good luck!! This post has a really happy tone to it!

  12. That is the perfect little house for you! I’d be happy to have one like that :))) How about throwing an unboxing party and invite your friends over to help to unwrap everything? You’d be done in no time! At my next to last job we unpacked a 5000 sqft house in 2 days, just the 2 of us, everything to be in place. It is a LOT of work, but it can be done in no time if you got help. Specially if you’re not moving things you don’t need with you. I can’t say good luck enough times :))) Thinking about you a lot! Hugs!

  13. Congrats on your awesome new home! Down-sizing/purging is both mentally and physically buoying. Enjoy my friend . 🙂
