Project Simplify – Part 3 – Closing, Yard Sale, and some fun! Big pic update

It’s been a crazy, crazy month. I keep reminding myself that it took nearly 14 years to accumulate all this stuff so it’s not going to disappear overnight. I’ve been attacking things room by room and I’m being really brutal about deciding to actually keep something. ย I make myself think about the last time I used or wore something and if I really need to keep it. ย I’m moving from a 3800 sqf house that has a 2 car garage into a 1191 sqf house with NO garage storage so I don’t really have the option to keep a lot of knickknacky type things. It’s really forcing me to decide what is important in my life to keep around.

Here is one wall of my garage full of things that will be in my yardsale this weekend:

My sewing room has taken the longest to go through and I’m still not finished yet. I’ve boxed up several boxes of scraps to sell on Ebay or Etsy but I haven’t sat down to list them yet. I went through all my notions and couldn’t believe how much stuff I had! It was just very unorganized and haphazardly thrown into drawers. Untitled

I’ve got enough bag hardware to last me for several projects! And needles… and keyfobs…. absolutelyย keeping my owl mug from Kati.

I closed on my house which I’m now calling The Corgi Cottage. It was very stressful answering all the questions from the underwriter to get my loan approval done. Being that I’m not divorced yet and still haven’t sold my current residence they needed a lot of things from me and my soon-to-be-ex husband. But last Friday we finalized everything and I got the keys to my house! I move in officially in a few weeks and I hope that’ll be my last move for several years. I’m tired of not being settled somewhere. It’s funny though, even with The Corgi Cottage being empty it still feels homier than my current home.

I have managed to fit in some fun things between all the packing and purging. I love electronic dance music but I’d never gone out to a live show before so I snagged some tickets to see Zedd and went a few weeks ago. I got a fun new wig to try out too!

The #zedd #truecolorstour was amazing and I’m throughly worn out from jumping around all night #edm

I also did Halloween Horror Nights for the first time at Universal Studios. I love scary movies and they had some great haunted houses to walk through. My favorite was the Insidious house! It looked just like the movie on the inside.

My favorite house at Halloween Horror Nights had a fantastic false front #Insidious #hhn #universalorlando

The corgis are all doing pretty well with everything that’s going on. They are up to their usual antics. Bernie did injure her left front leg yesterday so I’m trying to keep her from moving around too much so it’ll heal.

Cornwallis is always busy being Cornwallis. I found out he didn’t like having topsoil as his substrate so we switched him back to coconut coir. He much prefers that to bury and dig in. I think it’s easier for his baby tortoise claws and must be comfier.

Things are looking up! I can’t wait to have my studio set back up so I can spend Thanksgiving sewing and getting settled in my house. It’ll be so nice being able to spend my first Thanksgiving and Christmas there. Thanks again for the outpouring of support from everyone.

I’d rather be outside running around in the grass with my corgis than in the office today. #selfie #origamiowl
