Alaska Cruise 2018 Vlog – Part 3 – Skagway Dog Sledding, Ketchikan and Victoria, BC

This is the finale of our trip if you’ve been following the vlog series thus far. We go to a mushers camp and learn all about dog sledding in Skagway in an Alaskan Rainforest. Our ship briefly stops in Ketchikan and Victoria, BC before we head back to Seattle to go home. I hit two quilt shops in this video, both in Alaska. The first is Rushin’ Tailor’s Quilt Alaska and the second is Whale’s Tale Quilt Shop in Ketchikan. Everything was closed in Victoria by the time our ship got there so no Canadian fabric for me *tear*.

Quilt shops in Alaska are definitely different than Florida quilt shops.  I was surprised to see that the batik patterns are Alaska-themed designs with whales, totems, forests, mountains and streams. You will see me do a little shoulder dance the moment I discover the aurora borealis fabric display in Rushin’ Tailors.

I will be recording a video podcast discussing the trip and showing all of my Alaska haul – quilty and otherwise – to round out this series. It’s been so much fun editing these videos into a mini-episode format.

That was absolutely an adorable video! Loved every moment of it. Thanks for sharing with us.

  2. Loved your video – brought back many memories of our ALaskan Cruise in 2012. I bought a kit at the
“Rushin’ Tailors” called “Borealis Blues” with that same fabric in it – it silhouettes several animals howling
at the Northern lights! I missed that shop in Ketchican though – it looked even better – oh well maybe next time!
