I didn’t do much sewing last week so I tried to make up for it yesterday. I needed to do two pincushions for a swap I’m participating in and decided to do a few extra mini-pincushions in case they didn’t like the cactus ones. You can get the cactus design from Urban Threads. First I made a practice one for myself. This is Sam – he sits in a mini Terra cotta pot. My thread tension wasn’t 100% perfect on {Read More}

I’ve had a collection of sashiko designs in my embroidery folder on my PC for a while and tonight I finally had an excuse to stitch one out! I’m in the “Taste of the Orient” mini quilt swap and needed to do my quilt before the deadline hits in a few days. I picked out a cherry blossom sashiko design from Embroidery Library and got everything setup to stitch it out. I think it turned out pretty good! My binding {Read More}

My swap partner for the Ugly Fabric Swap Part 2 received her item so I can reveal what it was now! I picked up a black messenger bag and did some embroidery on top. I just finished packaging everything up for my final swaps for this year.  One of the swaps was easy, just some 2.5″ Jelly roll strips to mail out (already had lots cut so just had to pick and choose colors) but the other one required some work. I just transformed them into some mug rugs! You can see the front and the back here: Remind me to never do a hexagonal binding again please.  I didn’t even think about the {Read More}
