Fabric Storage and Organization Redux (+ a giveaway)

Whew – I feel like I need a vacation from my fabric! We’ve been rather intimate the past week as I’ve been sorting, purging, unfolding, folding and moving my stash from one closet to my new cabinet.  I love my new Prepac Storage Cabinet! It ended up being just the perfect thing for me. It went together in under an hour with Ringo helping me and this thing is sturdy and well made. You can see my old fabric storage {Read More}

Rethinking Fabric Storage

My new sewing area is still a work in progress and my biggest problem is how to best store  and  organize my fabric. Most of my fabric cuts are 1 yard or smaller. Previously I’d begun using the comic book board “mini bolt” method but I’m finding that cumbersome to maintain so I think I’ll be switching to something else.  I still love my Clip It Up system and will continue utilizing that for fat quarters and small leftover pieces. {Read More}

Big WIP Wednesday Update

Lots of updates in this post! I can see the end nearing of my big quilting studio move finally. New Pegboards Installed I work best under deadlines. Since the A/C guy has to have lots of stuff moved around the garage it forced me to finish my painting projects. I got the dresser finished and moved out and the pegboards were done on Monday. I managed to hang them by myself. If you want to get the details on my {Read More}

The Quilting Corner Moves

I’ve talked about wanting to move to a larger space in my house for a few months now. Since I’m mostly recovered from my respiratory illness I thought I’d try to tackle a good portion of the move today. I got way more done than I anticipated! I’d say I’m about 75% finished with the move. My sewing room was a 10×10 foot room with a small closet. I’m taking over my formal dining room and front “parlor” room which {Read More}

Tour the rearranged quilting corner!

I spent most of last night and today rearranging my little quilting corner (a 10 x 11 room). It’s small so I make do with what I have. I know it’s larger than what some people get! This is the view from the door of my sewing room. You can see I’ve got the two sewing cabinets back to back now. I was having an issue getting the quilting leaf open when my Arrow Cabinet was up against the wall because I {Read More}

Adventures in Babysitting & Fabric Organization

Over the past several days I’ve been working on a label. I won’t list the numerous things that went wrong with it while trying to get it done. I’m just glad it is finished finally and looks good! Last night I was stitching out the third attempt of it and while I was babysitting the embroidery machine I decided to clean up the fabric closet a bit. Don’t make the mistake of leaving the embroidery machine unattended. Bad things happen. {Read More}

New Quilting Room Organization

My thread organization has been bothering me for a while in my room along with a few other things. I didn’t like the way I had my rulers on my wall and the placement of my design wall behind the sewing machine was NOT convenient in the least. Right before the quilt show I ordered a few things to help me reorganize my room. Triton Products TPB-2 Two Tempered Round Hole Pegboards 24-Inch W by 48-Inch H by 1/4-Inch D {Read More}

My New Favorite Cleaning Tool – Hoover Twin Tank Steam Mop Review

I’m slowly working through my house for “Fall Cleaning” and one of the things I hate doing is mopping my tile floors. I have tile in both my bathrooms, eat in kitchen and kitchen area along with the entire sunroom that is 12 x 100 feet. The sunroom kills me trying to mop it after sweeping everything up because of how large it is. We use it as a “doggie room” too so it gets all the stuff the dogs {Read More}

Organization Inspiration

The weather has cooled off a bit so I’m trying to spend some time getting my house in order for Fall. I’m admittedly not the best housekeeper but I try to keep the basics under control (dishes, laundry, floors). I got fed up with my pantry and the state of my kitchen organization and decided to do something about it. My feet hurt like heck but it was worth all the time spent to redo the pantry and to start {Read More}
