Our quilt group is in need of the Quilted Shawl. How soon will this be posted? We have several with family illness and some members are also ill. At first we made quilts for each one when a prolonged illness struck, but with so many we have been talking about shawls. I haven’t been able to find a good pattern. I am thrilled you are going to post one. Thank you so much.

  2. I’m hoping to get that done by the end of March. It is on my to-do list to finish up this quarter. Keep an eye out for it!

    Hi Katie,
Thanks for the great tutorials! This may be a stupid question, but can you post a video of the next step with the paper piecing? How do I get the paper out? I’m very new to this.
    Thanks so much,

  4. I am so disappointed because I can not find your grandmother’s flower garden tutorial. It shows but when AI click to get to the tutorial, nothing comes up. Can you help me??

    • Just click the link or the photograph. Takes you right to the page. There are two You Tube Videos that show how I did it. Might need to turn off your Adblocker.

I appreciated your instructions on quilting in the hoop. My question is, do you have to do any “special” manipulation of the quilt sandwich so that there’s no drag on the machine?

  6. Hi Katie,

Loved you video on coiled fabric baskets. Really great details with very helpful tips.

Do you know of how to finish off one of these bowls using bias tape? I bought a bowl like this (my inspiration) and the bias tape does not show any stitches. i am mystified.

Also is it a mistake to use strips cut on the bias to wrap the cord? I am thinking they may stretch too much though for a certain look, this might be ok. What is your experience? Cutting along selvage better?

Thanks for sharing your wedding photos. I really liked them.

    • I’ve never used bias tape before but I have heard of more complicated methods that hide stitching. Check with your local quilting store to see if they offer classes or books on it. I’ve never done one like that.

Some people prefer cutting fabric on the bias and claim it helps with the fraying. I’ve never tried it that way since I use scraps from my stash cut from the lengthwise or crosswise grain. Try it and see what works best for you!

  7. Hi,
I am new to embroidery and quilting. I love the idea of quilting the finished top in the embroidery machine. Do you have a video tutorial where you go through the process and how large a quilt top can you quilt with the embroidery machine?
    Thanks so much.
